Because an eclectic group of readers
and editors will see your submission, our tastes vary. However, every reader
and editor has one thing in common—we are looking for stories that provoke
emotion and entertain. Whether your story is heartbreaking, hilarious, or
suspenseful, we want you to capture us from the start and force us to continue
to the final line. The only other requirement we have is to make sure and
adhere to our formatting rules.

Formatting
Rules:

We
accept fiction up to 3,000 words and only accept two submissions per writer
per reading period. Submissions should be one short story or up to three flash
pieces each under 750 words all in one file. Novel excerpts are OK if
self-contained. Stories that contain visuals or art are welcome as long as you
own the copyrights. However, we reserve the right to accept stories with or
without accepting the art. Please include word count at the top of your
manuscript. We also ask that you use standard manuscript formatting for fonts,
margins, and spacing. Please refer here for manuscript guidelines (Manuscript Guidelines).

Finally, remember to remove your name and other
identifying information from all manuscript pages.
We
will only consider previously unpublished work. Simultaneous submissions are
encouraged, but please remember to withdraw your piece and let us know if it
has been accepted elsewhere.

Fiction
submissions will only be accepted via Submittable.

We are
looking for personal essays and editorials that hold our attention; narratives
that are especially captivating and descriptive; essays that are crafted in
such a way that readers are moved or affected by the writer’s voice; words that
leave us with a call for action, feelings, or change.

At Cababi, we’re looking for
poems that impact the reader’s personal space by resonating and vibrating on a
unique emotional frequency. Send us poems that tell their own story and sing
their own song, whether through rich imagery, intense use of language, vivid
attention to sensory detail, a striking progression, or a crazy mix of all
these. Send us poems that, when we’ve read them, prompts us to delight, revile,
rejoice, or relax. Send us poems that feed our ravenous hunger for words,
thoughts, and emotions. Send us poems that you yearn to read.

Formatting
Rules:

We
accept up to 3 poems per submission. Include these all in one file, with a
maximum of 5 pages per overall submission. We only accept one submission per
writer per reading period. Please use standard manuscript formatting for
